Fridge in the Backseat, Toilet in the Trunk

Well today we (Matt & I) woke up early (~8am PR time).  Matt went for a run down by the beach and I got some things together (gas can) for our trip to Home Depot in Mayaguez.

We picked up a few things…..

Matt with car Fridge Stuffed in Car car3new trimmer head

Everything fit in the rental car, but JUST BARELY.  I mean we couldn’t have planned it any better.   When we got back to the house we went to work.  We put the new fridge in (easy), put the new Toilet in (not as easy) then proceeded to mow a 1/2 acre of 4 foot tall jungle (not easy at all).

It is fun how sometimes things just work out, and everything we bought…Amazingly fit .  There wasn’t much room to spare.  It was awesome.

The new trimmer head with the blades works out much better than the old line feed one.  It makes it much easier to mow things down, but it’s still pretty sold growth.  I’d say going a year between mowing is a bit too long.   Some of the small trees are fairly thick already.   I did also pick up some heavy duty “loppers”.  The front is now clear of vines and trees and I expect to finish up the back yard sometime soon.

We also picked up the cross coat stuff from Home Depot and some brushes to attack and clean the roof.  We will start the cleaning process maybe tomorrow and finish up sealing things up.  Crosscoat is expensive.  It was $125 for a 5 gallon bucket, but I suppose for a roof that isn’t too bad.

You can see our Econo food on the counter and on top of the min fridge in the last picture.

Afterward we went to Tamboo and I bought Matt dinner.

It has been a lot of fun to show Matt around.  Stay tuned for more!!

I Have Arrived in Rincon!

After a long day of flying and leaving Denver at a brisk -6 degrees F my friend Matt and I have arrived at the property.  We flew to Philadelphia and on to San Juan with the weather getting warmer each stop and arriving at a nice 80 degree evening.

The luggage I lovingly call Big Red arrived in one piece as our first moving bag

We figured we would get into Rincon eariler even with the drive instead of flying to Aguadilla, and we did, arriving in Rincon about 10ish.

When we got into Rincon the gate and everything around it was covered in new growth.  It will take some time to cut it back.  I am planning to hit up Home Depot in the morning to get some supplies.

I will post more pics in the morning.  It has been a long day and I am posting this from my phone.

Cabin Fever

Snow’s been coming down and it has been pretty cold. That means lots of movies and reading. And thinking about Puerto Rico.
For a peek into our mind, here are some of our books:

Compact Cabins
Cabin Designs -A different kind of cabin fever!

How to buld with stone, brick, concrete and tile
How to Build with Stone, Brick Concrete and Tile

I think there is a theme here….

Galleta de la Fortuna

Cassie and I went out to lunch at Ambrosia (Asian food restaurant)  here in Greeley and this was in my fortune cookie:

Fortune

I am a pretty big believer that life is always a struggle, but I think the fortune is pretty spot on.  This is a good sign for me as I feel as though my time off has given me an opportunity to reinvent myself.  I am getting my passion for life back, which is a great sign!   Oh which reminds me….I will have a surprise in my next post.  Stay tuned!
