Busy Life in Greeley Colorado

We have been very busy lately with a variety of projects in addition to our jobs.  It has been tough to readjust to work every day after staying up late because of the time change. Not only that, but Britton developed a cold and was coughing every night this week making it really hard to get enough sleep.  Some of the extra projects in addition to work have included: teaching aerobics (as I have for about 8 years), working on finishing the basement at our rental, going to community meetings, and helping out my parents when my dad’s surgery was unexpectedly canceled.

Additionally, Britton’s friend Damon came into Colorado from Santa Barbara, California. Our friends Eric and Elaine just had a baby, so he wanted to come out to visit friends and celebrate the new arrival. We also have to go to Fort Collins tomorrow to look at a chicken coop we found off of Craigslist, go to the bank and I have to go to an event for work for a few hours. With this busy life, no wonder it has been so hard to keep up with the posts!

Picture….Driving into work.

I was driving in to work and had a chance to take a cool picture out the passenger side window. One thing I will miss from Colorado is the Rocky Mountains and open fields.  It has actually been really warm and nice lately. We have had 70 degree weather for the last three days, beating a bunch of records! And then, of course in true Colorado fashion, Friday and Saturday we may see snow.

Great American Smokeout and Calle 13

Today was the Great American Smokeout and we got lots of media coverage. I went on a local radio station (Pirate Radio 104.7) to talk about quitting and had two articles I wrote published in the hard copy and online of the Greeley Tribune this week. One was as a guest columnist and the other was a publication of one of the blogs I write for their site.

Also Britton and I were messing around with the new set up of the XBox 360 account and found that Calle 13 is the artist of the month, so we were able to download their newest song called “No Hay Nadie Como Tu” which means: There is no one like you. I also liked “Atrevete” by Calle 13 and I think it is my favorite reggaeton band from Puerto Rico. “No Hay Nadie Como Tu” is done in conjunction with the Mexican band Cafe Tacuba. Here is the video:

Basement Before and After Pics

A little over a year ago we finished our basement. We had originally hoped that Kosei, our Japanese exchange student would have been able to stay down there, but the time schedule for construction is always underestimated. Britton and I have had various people stay with us since then in the basement bedroom, and since the last roommate just moved out, it made me think about all the work and money we put into it. It was definitely worth it, but it’s good to look back and remember.

Also, some people still haven’t seen it since it was finished (including Kosei, this one’s for you 🙂 !) We are planning on renting out this house when we move to Puerto Rico, but we are enjoying it while we are here. Also, maybe this will be motivation for Britton to finish the rental house basement *hint, hint*
