Christmas Surprises

This morning we awoke to a white Christmas which is somewhat unusual in this dryland prairie area of Colorado that we live in. It added a sparkle and glitter to an otherwise very cold day (high of 18!). We slept in and enjoyed a late breakfast and made Christmas cookies to give out with the presents.

Kitty was appreciative of being inside and the chickens mainly stayed in their coop except when they let us know they needed their water warmed up and were tired of eating snow.

Later that afternoon we went over to Britton’s family’s house to open presents and then headed over to my grandma’s for ham dinner and a little more gift exchanging.

And as Britton promised in the last post, we have a little Christmas surprise for all of you as well.

Drumroll….

We got chopped! Here we are before:

What do you think? A good Christmas surprise?

Big changes have been happening a lot lately and we felt compelled to do our part through our appearance. It’s always fun (and a little scary) to try something new. We hope you all had some wonderful surprises and a great time with family and friends. Merry Christmas!

The Last Colorado Thanksgiving

If everything goes according to plan, this will be our last Thanksgiving and Christmas living in Colorado (at least for a long while). Next year we will be in Puerto Rico and everything will be different. So, it was extra special to be able to have Thanksgiving at our house with both sides of our family. We have so much to be thankful for and are grateful to be so blessed.

Most of Britton’s family are camera shy but they were there!

Drink (Peach Wine drink ingredients)

And entertainment (our nephew Dawson playing Britton’s bass)

Cold November Updates

We took off about a week from blogging! I think that may be the new record! Anyhow, we have been staying busy, but we also caught some sort of weird bug that put us out for a while. Britton and I both had a fever of about 102 for two or three days in a row. Britton had it first and shared it with me (thanks honey 🙂 ) We had headache, body aches and the general fatigue made it so that neither of us wanted to do much more than sleep and watch movies. (On the positive side, I’ve lost another 4 lbs thanks to no appetite!)

We also got hit with another pretty fast snowstorm and cold weather in general that also made us just want to stay inside and do nothing interesting.

Brrr

We do still continue on with some of our goals to clean out the house and prepare to move. We gave our nice big extra HD TV that had been in the basement guest bedroom to Britton’s sister and we are preparing to install a new sink in one of the bathrooms because the enamel coating has worn off and it is starting to leak a little.

We’ve also looked into the details of taking Kitty with us to Puerto Rico and found out that it will cost $125 (one way) to take him with in the airplane cabin. He requires a really small kennel that can go under the seat, so we will will have to find one. A hard shelled kennel must measure no more than 17.5″ long, 12″ wide and 7.5″ high (doesn’t that seem super short?!). For a soft sided carrier it can be 18″ long, 11″ wide and 11″ high. Anyone know of an airline approved one? We also found out there is no vaccination or vet check requirements, which surprised us.

Another medical student is living with us for the month which has been fun. And we are looking forward to the holidays. This cold weather has us thinking a LOT about PR.
That’s about it in terms of updates. Hope to post again soon!

Belly Hallow V and Crabtree Brewery in Greeley

Last night Britton and I dressed up for (early) Halloween and spent the evening with friends at Belly Hallow and then proceeded over to Crabtree Brewery which is the only local brewery in Greeley. It was a great night. I went as Minnie Mouse and Britton went as “rockstar”. Bob Dylan perhaps? Or maybe Jimi Hendrix. In any case, the wig won out. His simple costume won 3rd place in the contest and won us a few gift certificates to local coffee shops in town! It was pretty cool. This year they held the Belly Hallow event at the Atlas Theater, a small venue in downtown Greeley. I thought it would be all belly dancing, but it was more of a variety show, and very creative!

Of course there was Belly Dancing

But also glowing hula hooping

…And even  glowing boobs

This funny one was done to the music of the Addams Family and featured friends Marjorie and Crystal (good job ladies!)

There was some creepy cool dancing as well to fit the Halloween theme

One of the awesome songs of the night (Lullaby by The Cure)

Me as Minnie

Here’s the whole gang: Bob/Jimi, Mario and Luigi, Betty Page, Gogo/Hippie, Vampire, and the King of Siam (plus Minnie in front)

There was even a live band!

At Crabtree we had fun trading our wigs around -Julie took Britton’s wig and transformed into Foxy Brown. It was also a celebration for Kim’s birthday (Happy Birthday!)

Britton turned into Kurtney Cobain (talking with King)

We had a great night out and are grateful to have such wonderful people and fun times in our lives!
