Britton’s Surprise Birthday Party and Dome’s Beach Trail

With some friends

We always have fun going out and about as well as staying in at the property, but for Britton’s birthday we had a little something different in mind. A surprise! Our neighbors Kim, Anthony and Lamar and I helped plan a surprise birthday party just up the street and it was so much fun! Britton had no idea when we stopped in to say hello before our planned beach outing that there was a party there just for him. We had a great time and love our neighborhood and friends.

A make-your-own pizza party and homemade carrot cake! The best!

Fun times, good food and great friends

We had to whisper the Happy Birthday song because Aeden was starting to fall asleep. In Puerto Rico you can sing the English version of “Happy Birthday to You” or the Spanglishized version “Cumplea帽os Feliz” but you should always add this song after:

Feliz, feliz en tu d铆a
Amiguit@ que Dios te bendiga
Que reine la paz en tu vida
Y que cumplas muchos m谩s

It translates to: Such happiness on your day, my friend we hope God blesses you, that peace reigns in your life and that you celebrate many more birthdays!

We did have one little party pooper there though 馃檪

We didn’t miss out on celebrating Britton’s birthday his expected way as well though. Taking a nice walk down one our favorite trails in Rincon following the Spanish Wall by Dome’s Beach is one of his favorite things so we made sure to do that as well.

Dome’s Beach is named for this, well, dome -the non-working nuclear reactor plant

It’s a favorite beach for surfers

And a good place to hang a hammock

A Long Overdue Visit From Mom

It had been 3 and 1/2 years since I have seen my mom! Far too long! She came out for a visit and stayed in our little cabana for about a week. We crammed in a lot of activities and everyone was super worn out by the end of the week. But I am so glad I got to see her. The next time we see her she will get to meet her grandson and we are all so excited about that! Here are a few photos from our adventures.

We are already missing this lady and can’t wait to see her again! Love you, Mom. Thanks for everything!

Random Photo Update: June 2017

It’s that time again to sort through all the photos that have no other real place but in a random photo drop. All the little moments in life add up…

I thought the fiddles, overalls聽and square dancing was a funny representation of the USA, but somewhat accurate I suppose for folk dancing

Laura and Trevor Salsa night

We went out salsa dancing with fedoras at a place called Hydra聽and had a lot of fun! It’s a cool, hip place and while I love salsa dancing and music it does seem to be dying off as a popular music style here on the island. Bachata, merengue and reggaeton are far more favored at most bars. Salsa is like 50’s sock-hop music would be to most people stateside.

We got some moves- haha!

Piramide Pyramid
Yah, you know there’s just a random pyramid in Aguada

Such beauty! Hermit crabs abound

Rinc贸n Through Tourist Eyes

Our friend Sean is visiting and staying in the unfinished cabin. We decided to show him around some of the Rinc贸n beaches. It’s always such a reminder how beautiful this place is when you have the perspective of a visitor.

Later on we had lunch at Jack’s Shack and took a quick dip at the Marina. It’s always nice to be reminded why we fell in love with Rinc贸n in the first place when we were tourists ourselves.
