We have been very busy these last few days. Having guests to show around is always a lot of fun because you get to show off the highlights of your town and area. In addition to showing them around our property and the waterfalls in San Sebastian we also went out to eat at some of our favorite locales: Tamboo for lunch overlooking Sandy beach, La Copa Llena for the most delicious food to celebrate Britton’s birthday, Villa Cofresi for a game of pool with “Piratas” or creamy rum drinks made inside a fresh coconut and The English Rose for breakfast in the “hills” overlooking the ocean.
Sunset happy hour at Villa Cofresi
We swam in the marina, went to a fun party, checked out the lighthouse and watched the surfers in Domes Beach and sat outside admiring the stars in the middle of January after cooking chicken on an open flame. Overall we had a great time and it reminds us that we definitely live in a vacation spot. But we have been so busy that we haven’t had much time for much else like boring life things such as laundry and groceries.
So we went to our favorite little grocery store in Rincon, Edward’s, to pick up a few groceries on Saturday and were greeted with a huge “Customer Appreciation Party”. Not only do the grocery stores in Puerto Rico sell alcohol unlike in Colorado, but they know how to throw a party! There was a pig roast, rice and beans, green bananas in garlic sauce, ceviche, bacalitos, sausages and all-you-can-drink rum, beer, and wine along with a live salsa band! Apparently the party just doesn’t stop in Rincon!
Here’s a short video for your entertainment. At first it looks like you are at some sort of festival or something and then…voila you are in a grocery store. lol
Looks like you were having fun only in Puerto Rico would you have a, Customer Appreciation Party with booze and a pig roast at a grocery store. That would never happen here in the states. One other reason I like it there so much, people are much more laid back and friendly it’s like everybody is on vacation. I hope Puerto Rico never becomes a state you have much more freedom there not as many rules and regulations as it is here in the states.
This is why I love Rincon…This is why I love Puerto Rico!!!
Thank you for sharing all this great stuff with us –your dedicated followers….I think I want to follow in your footsteps a lot sooner than the 15 years I have left!!!
Gotta love the fact that while you went to pick up grocery you were able to grab some pernil and a drink or two!!! Love it!!
Rick, US federal laws apply to Puerto Rico too. If Puerto Ricans are doing things differently it is the result of different state laws, different culture, and selective enforcement.

My point exactly, the result of different state laws we are all becoming nanny states to many rules and laws I realize some are needed but there is just too much government intervention. I guess I should of been born 200 years ago. And yes it definitely a different culture the people are closer to God from what I have seen.
Rick, youll find same atmosphere of Rincón in hispanics neighborhoods on mayor American cities just hang around. Regarding statehood the more diverse US the more chances PR could become State ,remember Babybomers are old and dying quickly. so next population boom is Hispanic.Adolfo federal laws don’t apply when Gringos are having a little fun that are not used it but sometimes don’t undertand why for them something like Cockfighting is not normal for them and the killing of alligators on swamp people TV show on History Channel is fine on their book
